NDC Announces William H. Frist, M.D. as Keynote Speaker

Nashville, TN - April 7, 2009 ­ The Honorable William H. Frist, M.D. will deliver the keynote address to National Distribution & Contracting, Inc.(NDC) distributor members and vendors during the International Exhibition Opening Session on Monday, June 8, 2009. Bill Frist was the U.S. Senate Majority Leader from 2003-2007, and served as Tennessee's Senator from 1995-2007. During this time, Frist emerged as one of the leading voices on health issues in America today.

Frist graduated from Princeton University in 1974 and soon after graduated with honors from Harvard Medical School with a medical degree. During his surgical residency he found his niche ­ heart transplantation. Returning to his hometown of Nashville, TN, Frist founded and became surgical director of the multi-organ Vanderbilt Transplant Center, one of the leading facilities in the United States. During his twenty years in medicine, Bill Frist performed over 150 procedures including the first lung transplant, the first pediatric heart transplant and the first combined heart-lung transplant in the southeast.

Frist's expertise in infectious diseases enabled him to take on one of the greatest threats to the health and security of our nation -- bioterrorism. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Frist also championed increase funding for global HIV/AIDS. He is currently involved with various organizations dealing with global health & extreme poverty.
